As an experiment , as of June 7th of this year I will no longer be answering unexpected phone calls and only checking emails once a day.
Sounds a little extreme? Sounds all out crazy? Quite possibly, but hopefully I will regain some sanity in the process. For the last ten years I have carried a mobile phone all day (and slept with it on the nightstand) hardly missing a call. On super busy days I have been on the phone north of one hundred times a day. Calls came day and night. My productivity, quality of work and blood pressure suffered. I have came to the conclusion that technology is the casue of and the solution to all of life's problems.
With this thought in mind and using my understanding of technology I have writtin 'My Limited Contact Manifesto'. In a nutshell, it is my explaniation of how I will benifit, how I plan to implement, and an assuance that I will not lose contact with anyone in the process.
I'll give this a shot for two months and see how practical it is. If not so practical, I'll go back to my old ways and search for another answer. If it works, I'll keep it up. More than likely I'll find some middle ground.
